The Champion of Champions program is designed to help shooters at smaller clubs participate more often and with ease in ATA registered events.

WHO QUALIFIES

All clubs authorized to hold ATA registered events in Ohio can participate.

  • Each club may hold a Champion of Champions qualifier event, and it must be noted as such on the shoot application.
  • Application for a Champion of Champions initial qualifier must be made 14 calendar days before the scheduled event date with the OSTA secretary. You will receive a confirmation letter with your dates listed and the necessary forms to report shoot results.
  • You must complete and sign the forms provided. Handwritten substitutes will be denied.
  • Application for a Champion of Champions rescheduled qualifier must be made 7 calendar days before the scheduled event date with the OSTA secretary.

THE RULES

Event qualifiers will be held on 100 target programs for singles, doubles, and handicap.

  • The high score and runner-up for each event, along with the high score and runner-up by category for Junior, Sub Jr., Lady, Veteran and Senior Veteran, will qualify for the Champion of Champions award at the Ohio State shoot.
  • A shooter may qualify for a different category, including the Event High or Runner-Up category, at different qualifying shoots. For example, if a category shooter breaks a score that would qualify him/her for Event High or Runner-Up, the shooter has the option of electing to be placed in the Event High and Runner-Up category, or in his/her designated category. Likewise, a shooter who has previously qualified as a Lady, for example, could at a subsequent shoot qualify as a Junior, if applicable. In all cases, it is the qualifying shooter’s responsibility to inform the gun club which category he/she chooses to be placed in; otherwise, club management will use its discretion in placing the qualifying shooter in a category.
  • Gun clubs must include the qualifying club name, event, shooter’s name, ATA number and qualification type (Champion, Runner- Up, Junior, Sub-Junior, Lady, Veteran, Senior Veteran and runners-up for all categories) on the shoot report and submit it to the OSTA secretary. Incomplete reports will not be accepted.
  • A minimum of 3 shooters per event is required to consider the event a valid qualifier. To complete the requirements for singles, doubles and handicap, your club may host multiple qualifier events.
  • On June 21, 2018, all qualifiers will have their scores recorded for the singles, doubles and handicap during the Ohio State Shoot. Shooters who qualify as a Champion or Runner-Up may not fall back to category if they have not qualified for that particular category. Ties for Champion and category will be determined by sub-event from first to last. If a tie remains, a high card draw determines the winner.
  • Shooters may qualify at different clubs for the same or different event/category. Shooters aren’t required to reside in Ohio to participate in this program.

QUESTIONS
Questions about the program should be directed to OSTA Secretary Noreen Snively, who will forward questions to the appropriate OSTA director for response.
