The Champion of Champions program is designed to help the smaller clubs get more shooters to participate in A.T.A. registered events. Shooters may qualify at different clubs for the same or different event/category. Shooters do not need to be a resident of Ohio to participate in this program.
Each club that is authorized to hold A.T.A. registered events in the state of Ohio can participate. Each club has the option to hold a Champion of Champions qualifier event. The event must be noted when making an application to hold the shoot. Application for a Champion of Champions initial qualifier must be made 14 calendar days prior to the scheduled event date with the O.S.T.A. secretary. You will receive a confirmation letter with your dates listed and the necessary forms for reporting the results of the shoot. You must complete and SIGN the forms that are provided– handwritten substitutes will not be accepted. Application for a Champion of Champions rescheduled qualifier must be made 7 calendar days prior to the scheduled event date with the O.S.T.A. secretary.
Event qualifiers will be held on 100 target programs for singles, doubles, and handicap. The high score for each event along with the high score by category for Junior, Sub Jr., Lady, Veteran and Senior Veteran will qualify for the Champion of Champions award at the Ohio State shoot. A shooter may qualify for a different category, including the event high score (champion), at different qualifying shoots. In all cases, it is the qualifying shooter’s responsibility to inform the gun club which category he/she chooses to be placed in; otherwise, club management will use its discretion in placing the qualifying shooter in a category. Ties for Champion and category at a qualifier shoot, will be determined by sub event from first to last. If still tied, a high card draw will determine the winner.
The gun club must have the qualifying club name, event, shooter name, A.T.A. number and the type of qualification (Event Champion, Junior., Sub Jr., Lady, Veteran, Senior Veteran for all categories) identified on the shoot report and submitted to the O.S.T.A. secretary. Incomplete reports will not be accepted. A minimum of 3 shooters per event is required for the event to be considered a valid qualifier. Multiple qualifiers can be hosted to complete the requirements for singles, doubles, and handicap.
At the OHIO STATE SHOOT, all qualifiers will have their scores recorded for the singles, handicap, and doubles on Thursday’s events (June 20th, 2024). Shooters who qualify as a Champion may not fall back to category if they did not qualify for said category. All ties will carry over and will be shot off if still unresolved by the final singles/ handicap/ doubles events.
